Dr. Siera Florindo earned her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Guelph and went on to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on the beautiful Caribbean island of St. Kitts, graduating in May 2025. Her love for animals, and her dream of becoming a veterinarian, began in early childhood. From a young age, she knew she wanted to dedicate her life to helping animals and the people who care for them. This dream was fulfilled when she joined the team at Waterloo West Animal Hospital in June 2025!
Growing up, Dr. Siera cared for all types of animals - those with scales, feathers, and fur. These early experiences fueled her passion for small and exotic animal medicine and gave her a unique appreciation for all species. That passion deepened through further experiences, including volunteering at a wildlife sanctuary in Thailand during her undergraduate studies and working with the St. Kitts Sea Turtle Monitoring Network while in veterinary school.
Today, her clinical interests include exotic animal medicine, small animal surgery, and emergency care. She is also Fear Free certified and strives to make each patient’s visit as stress-free and comfortable as possible. Dr. Siera is also passionate about increasing access to veterinary care, with a special interest in community outreach, spay/neuter programs, and the One Health initiative, which recognizes the vital connection between animal, human, and environmental health. She strives to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to all of her patients.
When she’s not working, Dr. Siera enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring and hiking local trails with her dogs, or relaxing at home with a good book or a favourite video game. At home, she shares her life with her fiancé and their beloved pets: two huskies, Atlas and Link, a cat named Koda, a chinchilla named Pikachu, and an axolotl named Toothless.
